Sonia was 26 when she decided to consult Mr Chan, consultant plastic surgeon at Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, about the possibility of a breast augmentation procedure. Mr Chan says that the first consultation can be the most difficult one as, apart from dispelling some of the common myths about cosmetic surgery, there is a lot of information that needs to be assessed, which can be overwhelming. ‘To ensure the patient fully understands the advised procedure,’ Mr Chan says, ‘I perform a clinical examination in front of a mirror to show and discuss exactly what is involved and the results that can be expected.’
‘Mr Chan knew exactly what I wanted and exactly what would best suit my body,’ Sonia says. ‘He is such a down to earth and excellent surgeon.’
As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, the possible risks and complications are also something Mr Chan explains fully to his patients, with post-operative care an essential part of the process, and Sonia found that the surgical skills and excellent care from Mr Chan meant she recovered quickly and was able to return to her daily routine soon after the procedure.
‘Only four days after the surgery I was able to be out and about all day, with no pain or bruising,’ Sonia says. ‘And that is because of Mr Chan’s excellent work. I highly recommend him for any kind of cosmetic surgery because he is a top surgeon and looked after me very well.’
